Tech giant Lenovo has launched an (artificial intelligence) AI-powered sustainability engine designed to assist businesses in making more data-driven and environmentally conscious IT decisions called LISSA.

The Lenovo Intelligent Sustainability Solutions Advisor (LISSA) offers actionable insights into the estimated emissions impact across the entire IT lifecycle, helping customers align their purchasing with their sustainability objectives.

Leveraging generative AI, LISSA provides visibility into the carbon emissions associated with various Lenovo sustainability solutions. These include TruScale Device as a Service (DaaS), Asset Recovery, packaging efficiencies, lower-carbon shipping options, lifecycle extensions, certified refurbishment, and more. LISSA also enables businesses to simulate different solution pathways, identifying potential emissions reduction opportunities to support IT decarbonization in the digital workplace.

“A new capability in our growing sustainability portfolio, LISSA arms customers with data and AI-powered recommendations to guide their IT purchasing decisions,” said Claudia Contreras, executive director of Global Sustainability Services for Lenovo. “By bringing sustainability attributes front and center, we enable customers to unlock potential emission reduction opportunities and deploy IT solutions that help drive sustainability goals.”

Net-zero greenhouse gas

A recent survey indicates strong executive support for AI in addressing climate issues, with 87% of respondents believing AI can unlock insights to mitigate global greenhouse gas emissions and create new avenues for climate action. With the rapid access to IT sustainability insights and AI-driven recommendations provided by LISSA, Lenovo aims to help businesses develop IT decarbonization pathways with measurable sustainability outcomes.

Lenovo has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with science-based targets validated through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Net-Zero Standard. LISSA is a key component in this effort, empowering customers to make sustainable IT choices backed by robust data and driving measurable outcomes.

“There is no one defined path; each customer is on their unique sustainability journey and needs access to data to measure progress,” added Contreras. “Lenovo aims to help customers make real progress with data-led sustainability insights. AI-enabled recommendations and data intelligence will help plan and optimize IT investments with sustainability in mind. Lenovo can help organizations of any size compare multiple IT solutions in real-time, design an end-to-end IT solution that fits budget, computing, and sustainability goals.”
