Maya, a fintech and digital bank, has partnered with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) to help modernize sports governance and strengthen the financial foundation of Filipino athletes and coaches.
The collaboration is part of PSC’s digitalization efforts to improve services for the sports community. Under the program Championing the Pinoy Athlete, Maya and PSC will roll out key initiatives to promote financial wellness and streamline processes.
One of the projects will enable cashless payments and automate the release of allowances for athletes and coaches. National Sports Associations (NSAs) will also gain access to a transparent system that promotes accountability and better governance.
The partnership includes financial tools such as savings, credit, insurance, and investments, which aim to help athletes, coaches, and PSC employees build long-term security during and beyond their athletic careers.
“This partnership is about more than technology, it’s about giving our athletes the support they deserve both on and off the field,” said Shailesh Baidwan, president of Maya Group and co-founder of Maya Bank. “Together with PSC, we’re building a stronger financial foundation for Philippine sports and helping empower every Filipino athlete to reach world-class status.”
The program also supports the wider sports community by making digital financial services more accessible for daily use and by creating ways to engage fans and stakeholders during major national sporting events.
“PSC is committed to changing the game in sports governance by embracing digitalization and making it easier to serve the needs of our athletes and the entire sports community,” PSC Chair John Patrick Gregorio said. “Our athletes give their all for the country. This collaboration ensures their support is just as strong, swift, secure, and transparent.”
