Maya’s Chain Stars highlights local talent at Philippine Blockchain Week 2025

The Philippine Blockchain Week 2025 (PBW) brought together technology, art, and entertainment with the launch of Chain Stars, an initiative powered by digital financial platform Maya. The two-day event at Hall 2 of the SMX Convention Center Manila featured singing and dance competitions, integrating culture and Web3 technology.

Chain Stars was part of a wider PBW program that also included Indie Rising: Super Tech Week Edition, which showcased emerging musicians, and the Close Friends Only Creator Meet-Up & Sale, where fans connected with content creators and bought exclusive merchandise.

The singing competition was organized with the Center for Pop Music Philippines, while the dance battle was a PBW edition of the World Supremacy Battlegrounds Champions Tour. In the Singing Showdown, Grand Winner John Yhel Gabonada won ₱10,000, a recording deal with MAS Music Group, and a 12-session scholarship in Voice & Stage Performance. Second Place Winner Shedric Basilio received ₱5,000 and a six-session online voice training scholarship, while Third Place Winner Aubrey Tato took home ₱3,000 and a three-session scholarship.

The Champions Tour featured five divisions: Solo, Pocket Rocket, Varsity, Open, and Monster. Winners included The Chippettes (Varsity), OBS Fuego Eterno (Open), John Paul Trelles (Solo), The Comrades (Pocket Rocket), and Ruthless Comrades (Monster).

Select dance crews were also minted into WSB COLLECTIBLES, allowing fans to purchase NFTs tied to their performances. A Blockchain Introduction Talk was held to give attendees a basic understanding of decentralization, smart contracts, and tokenized economies.

PBW’s Chain Stars showed how innovation can be both technological and creative, giving a platform for performers while promoting Web3’s possibilities to a wider audience.
