Philippine Blockchain Week (PBW) 2025 returns on June 10 and 11 at the SMX Convention Center with a clear goal: to help more people understand how blockchain technology works in real life. The two-day event will go beyond the buzzwords, aiming to break myths and focus on real solutions using blockchain, Web3, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Organizers are inviting developers, regulators, educators, creators, and first-time attendees to join talks, live demos, and interactive booths. While much of the news around blockchain still centers on scams and speculation, PBW 2025 wants to shift the focus to how the technology can improve access to financial services, help public programs run more smoothly, and even connect local culture with digital innovation.
Making blockchain simple and useful
PBW 2025 will explore several key areas of blockchain development that matter to Filipinos. These include:
- Demystifying Crypto: Speakers will explain the basics of cryptocurrency and blockchain, separating real tools from empty promises.
- Smart Regulation: Industry leaders and government officials will talk about building Web3 policies that support progress without sacrificing safety.
- Blockchain for Good: Sessions will share real stories of how blockchain is helping reduce costs for remittances and support relief efforts in disasters.
To attract a wider crowd, the event includes fun and creative experiences in music, gaming, and digital art, showing that the road to Web3 adoption doesn’t have to be hard to follow.
Why the Philippines is ready for blockchain
With more than 117 million mobile users and one of the world’s largest remittance markets, the Philippines is in a good spot to benefit from blockchain solutions. The country’s young and tech-savvy population is already exploring new tools like NFTs and play-to-earn games, while community-driven values make it easier for Web3 ideas to take root.
Here are some ways blockchain is being used today:
- Giving people without bank accounts access to digital wallets
- Keeping medical records and land titles safe through digital storage
- Improving public services with open and trackable data
- Helping local artists and business owners earn income from NFTs and smart contracts
Fishblock brings blockchain to the streets
A creative highlight of PBW 2025 is Fishblock, a special fishball snack by chef and actor Marvin Agustin. Available only through crypto payments, each Fishblock order comes with a free NFT issued on Bayanichain, the country’s homegrown blockchain platform. The digital art for the NFT is designed by Filipino artists, giving a fun and simple example of how food, tech, and culture can come together.
Fishblock is available from May 2 to June 11 at Cochi and Kondwi.
