Chipmaker MediaTek introduced its Filogic 8000 family at CES 2026, the new chipsets that are part of the early development of the Wi-Fi 8 ecosystem. The company said the products are designed to support more reliable wireless connections across a wide range of devices, from broadband gateways and enterprise access points to smartphones, laptops, TVs, tablets, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

The company said this development comes as wireless networks face increasing strain from the growing number of connected devices. Crowded networks often lead to interference, unstable connections, and slower response times. MediaTek said Wi-Fi 8 is designed to address these issues by focusing on reliability and low latency, which are important for applications that rely on artificial intelligence (AI) and real-time data processing.

According to MediaTek, Wi-Fi 8 improves how devices share bandwidth, manage power use, and stay connected in challenging environments. These changes aims to make everyday online activities more consistent, especially in homes, offices, and public spaces with many connected devices.

MediaTek outlined four main areas of innovation in Wi-Fi 8. One is multi-access point coordination, where multiple access points work together to reduce interference and improve network efficiency. Another is spectrum efficiency, which helps devices operate more smoothly in crowded wireless environments. The company also highlighted improvements in coverage and range, which are intended to support stable connections even at the edge of a network. The fourth area focuses on lowering latency and improving reliability for applications such as extended reality, cloud gaming, and industrial systems.

“Through our demonstrations at CES, we are showcasing our commitment to advancing next-generation wireless technologies and reinforcing our leadership in the current Wi-Fi generation,” said Alan Hsu, corporate vice president and general manager of the Intelligent Connectivity Business Unit at MediaTek.

During CES 2026, MediaTek demonstrated its Wi-Fi 8 solutions to show how the technology could support AI-driven and latency-sensitive applications. The company said demand for reliable wireless connectivity continues to grow as more services depend on real-time data and consistent network performance.

MediaTek said the Filogic 8000 series is intended for premium and flagship devices that will adopt Wi-Fi 8. The first chipset under the Filogic 8000 series is expected to reach customers later this year, according to MediaTek.
