MediaTek has unveiled its latest Dimensity 6000 series, accompanied by a cutting-edge chipset aimed at elevating the performance of mainstream 5G devices. 

The MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC (system on chip) brings an array of premium features, boasting exceptional power efficiency, vibrant displays, high frame rates, AI-driven camera technologies, top-notch low power consumption, and reliable Sub-6 5G connectivity, all while maintaining an affordable price point.

“The MediaTek Dimensity 6000 series makes it possible for device makers to stay ahead of the curve with impressive upgrades that boost performance, increase power efficiency and reduce material costs,” said CH Chen, deputy general manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit.

The Dimensity 6100+ comes equipped with an enhanced 5G modem that supports the 3GPP Release 16 standard, featuring up to 140MHz 2CC 5G Carrier Aggregation. This integration significantly reduces power consumption, thanks to MediaTek’s UltraSave 3.0+ technology. The chipset incorporates two Arm Cortex-A76 big cores and six Arm Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, providing significant improvements, such as support for AI-powered cameras, 10-bit displays, exceptional UX and GPU performance, and a wide range of rich peripheral features.

Among the key features of the Dimensity 6100+ are support for up to 108MP Non-ZSL cameras and the ability to capture video at up to 2K 30fps. MediaTek’s UltraSave 3.0+ technology plays a crucial role in reducing 5G power consumption by 20% compared to competitive solutions. Moreover, the chipset offers powerful camera capabilities, including AI-bokeh for stunning portraits and selfies, and in collaboration with Arcsoft, MediaTek brings AI-color technology to mainstream devices, empowering users to showcase their creativity. The chipset also offers premium 10-bit display support, enabling the reproduction of over one billion colors for vibrant images and videos, along with smooth user experiences through support for frame rates ranging from 90Hz to 120Hz.

MediaTek’s comprehensive 5G portfolio caters to various price tiers, making mobile experiences accessible to all. The Dimensity 9000 series is tailored for flagship smartphones and tablets, the Dimensity 8000 family caters to premium mobile devices, and the Dimensity 7000 lineup expands the range of high-tech devices. With the introduction of the new Dimensity 6000 series, MediaTek aims to democratize higher-end features, making them available to mainstream 5G devices.
Consumers can expect the first smartphones featuring the Dimensity 6100+ chipset to hit the market in the third quarter of 2023.
