Microsoft launches AI workplace assistant Microsoft Copilot

Microsoft continues to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) in developing products and services. This time, the technology giant launched the Microsoft Copilot, an AI assistant that will be available in Windows 11, Microsoft 365, Edge, and Bing.

“With the convergence of chat interfaces and large-language models, you can now ask for what you want in natural language, and the technology is smart enough to answer, create it, or take action,” said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president and consumer chief marketing officer, Microsoft.

Microsoft has consolidated its AI capabilities into Microsoft Copilot, intending to make it accessible across its various platforms, broadening its user base. Copilot is designed to leverage web-based context and intelligence, integrate work-related data, and sync with the user’s current PC activities, all while prioritizing user privacy and security.

Windows 11 Update

The latest Windows 11 update introduces over 150 new features, with Copilot integration being one of the highlights. Other enhancements include a new Outlook for Windows, AI-powered improvements in Paint and Photos, an enhanced Clipchamp, modernized Notepad and File Explorer, as well as new natural voices in Narrator to enhance accessibility and productivity.

In Bing and Edge, users can expect personalized responses derived from chat history, an improved DALL.E 3 model from OpenAI in Bing Image Creator, and the implementation of Content Credentials using cryptographic methods to add invisible digital watermarks to all AI-generated images in Bing, including their original creation time and date.

Bing and Edge now offer more tailored recommendations and price comparisons, all thanks to AI-driven capabilities. Users will soon have the option to initiate shopping based on a photo or saved image.

Over 160 million Microsoft 365 users already have access to Bing Chat Enterprise at no extra cost, with Bing Chat Enterprise now also available on the Microsoft Edge mobile app. The integration of multimodal visual search and Image Creator aims to enhance creativity in the workplace.

For personal users, Designer will be integrated with Microsoft 365 Copilot, starting with Word. Designer assists users in transforming text-heavy documents into visually appealing content through cutting-edge AI-driven custom graphics.
