Mylo Speech Buddy

Mylo Speech Buddy, a pioneering app designed to assist individuals with speech delays and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), represented the Philippines at the Collision Tech Conference in Toronto, Canada on June 17-20, 2024.

The event, which gathered 500 startups from over 30 countries, offerered a significant platform for Mylo Speech Buddy as it prepares to extend its reach to global markets.

“Being chosen to represent the Philippines at the Collision Tech Conference is a significant opportunity for us to showcase our app’s potential in autism support and speech therapy,” said Vincent Rocha, CEO and president of Mylo Speech Buddy.

Rocha emphasized that the event’s opportunities align well with the company’s mission to support children with ASD and expand its global reach.

The app’s participation in the conference is supported by StartUp Village Philippine president Carlo Calimon through its accelerator program SOAR, DMZ Toronto, and a partnership with the Government of Canada Trade Commission Service. Mylo Speech Buddy is one of four startups representing the Philippines, alongside REVAstaff, Remotify, and uHoo. The team will be pitching its health-tech solution to Canadian investors and partners, with a focus on forging strategic partnerships and exploring new markets.

Localization

The conference also highlighted the broader growth potential of Manila’s startup ecosystem. The 2024 Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER) valued the ecosystem at $6.4 billion by the end of 2023, reflecting robust development in the region’s innovation landscape.

As Mylo Speech Buddy looks to the future, its global expansion strategy includes a focus on language localization to ensure the app’s accessibility in international markets.

“We are working on localizing our content for international markets to make Mylo Speech Buddy accessible worldwide,” Rocha added.

Mylo Speech Buddy won first place and a pitch prize of $2,500 at the ARISE Plus Ye! Boost Accelerator Program Cohort 3. This program, funded by the European Union and led by the International Trade Centre in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Competitiveness Innovation Group and QBO Innovation, further underscores the app’s potential in the tech and healthcare sectors.
