Chipmaker Nvidia has unveiled the Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit, a compact generative AI (GenAI) supercomputer designed to provide improved performance at a reduced cost.

Priced at $249 — compared to the previous $499 — the Nvidia kit is now available, offering developers, students, and hobbyists a powerful tool for advancing in GenAI, robotics, and computer vision.

The new kit delivers a 70% boost in performance, achieving 67 INT8 TOPS, and a 50% increase in memory bandwidth, reaching 102GB/s. It also supports various applications, such as building AI-driven chatbots, developing AI-based robots, and creating advanced visual AI systems.

The kit includes a Jetson Orin Nano 8GB system-on-module (SoM) and a carrier board, making it suitable for prototyping edge AI applications. Its features include an Nvidia Ampere architecture GPU with tensor cores and a six-core Arm CPU, enabling smooth handling of multiple AI tasks simultaneously. It also supports up to four cameras with higher resolution and frame rates than its predecessor.

Developers can access Nvidia’s AI software ecosystem, including tools like the Isaac robotics platform, the Metropolis vision AI software, and the TAO Toolkit for fine-tuning pre-trained AI models. Nvidia Omniverse Replicator simplifies synthetic data generation, while Jetson ecosystem partners offer extra support, including sensors, design services, and custom software development.

Existing users of the Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit can also upgrade through software updates, which enhance generative AI performance by up to 1.7 times. Nvidia’s AI lab and community provide additional resources, tutorials, and inspiration for developers exploring cutting-edge projects in the fast-growing generative AI landscape.
