Chipmaker Nvidia has soared past Microsoft to become the world’s most valuable company. Nvidia, known for its advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technology, has seen a surge in its stock value. This surge is fueled by the increasing enthusiasm and investment in AI, leading to Nvidia’s share price hitting an all-time high.
On a recent trading day, Nvidia’s stock closed at nearly $136, marking a 3.5% increase. This comes shortly after the company had already surpassed Apple to claim the second spot in market capitalization. The announcement by several manufacturers of AI-enabled personal computers, which need AI chips, has further boosted Nvidia’s market position.
As reported by Reuters, Nvidia’s market capitalization now stands at approximately $3.34 trillion. This significant leap comes just over three months after the company’s valuation hit $2 trillion. This year, Nvidia’s share price has skyrocketed by 170%, and since its lowest point in October 2022, it has surged by a staggering 1,100%. To put this into perspective, Nvidia’s stock was worth less than 1% of its current value just eight years ago.
Reuters quoted Bespoke Investment Group’s data which highlights the rapid pace of Nvidia’s ascent in comparison to other tech giants. Apple took 1,044 days to climb from a $2 trillion to a $3 trillion valuation, while Microsoft achieved the same growth in 945 days. In contrast, Nvidia has accomplished this feat in just over three months, underscoring its rapid rise and the strong market confidence in its AI capabilities.
