The Philippines will hold its first Quantum Information, Science, and Technology Conference, or QISTCon.ph 2025, at JPark Island Resort & Waterpark in Cebu. Organized by the Quantum Computing Society of the Philippines (QCSP) and its partners, the event aims to bring together local and global experts to talk about the future of quantum technology in the country and the region.
QISTCon.ph is being organized with support from the Department of Science and Technology–PCIEERD, the Open Quantum Institute, GESDA, and academic institutions such as Cebu Institute of Technology–University and the University of San Carlos.
Set to take place over three days, the conference will gather more than 100 invited participants, including scientists, educators, startup founders, investors, policymakers, and students.
“QISTCon.ph isn’t just about showcasing quantum gadgets or futuristic theory. It’s about creating real conversations and concrete plans for the Philippines’ quantum future,” the organizers said in a statement.
What to Expect
The event will focus on five key areas:
- Industry involvement: Encouraging local companies to explore quantum applications and learn from global tech firms such as AWS, IBM, and Microsoft.
- Strategic planning: Outlining a practical roadmap for the Philippines based on its own resources and talent.
- Early education: Promoting the introduction of quantum ideas from grade school to graduate studies.
- Regional ties: Strengthening collaboration across Southeast Asia for a shared quantum strategy.
- Responsible growth: Discussing ethical, sustainable, and secure uses of quantum technologies.
