PLDT Inc. and its wireless arm Smart Communications Inc. reiterated their support for the Department of Information and Communications Technology after the agency highlighted better affordability and improved value in internet services nationwide.
“With the DICT leading the charge toward a more digitally empowered Philippines, the PLDT Group remains committed to doing our part to deliver faster, more reliable, and more affordable connectivity for all Filipinos,” Menardo Jimenez, COO of PLDT and the Group’s representative at the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) of the government, said.
“The progress we are seeing today, such as lower data prices, enhanced fiber speeds, and programs like connectivity for Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas, shows what can be achieved when we work together with a shared purpose,” Jimenez said.
The PLDT Group said it is continuing its initiatives to support wider digital inclusion. These efforts include ongoing investments to strengthen fiber networks and improve wireless services in more areas.
The company also works with the government on programs such as the Bayanihan SIM project and public-sector connectivity efforts under PLDT Enterprise. Through its ICT unit ePLDT Inc., the Group supports digital infrastructure projects meant to help enterprises, government, and communities adopt secure and scalable technology. These platforms include Pilipinas Cloud and Pilipinas AI.
For its data center unit VITRO Inc., the launch of VITRO Santa Rosa this year marked the opening of what the company describes as the country’s largest and first AI-ready hyperscaler campus. PLDT said the facility allows international cloud and hyperscale companies to invest locally and supports the goal of positioning the Philippines as a competitive location for cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital services.
