Telecommunications company PLDT Inc. and its wireless unit Smart Communications Inc. have selected OneTrust to support their new privacy and consent management program. The system is designed to give customers clearer control over how their data is used.
The companies introduced a unified consent program built on the OneTrust Universal Consent and Preference Management solution. Smart serves more than 59 million mobile subscribers, and PLDT Home connects about three million fixed-line customers. The new system consolidates how the PLDT Group collects and manages customer privacy choices.
OneTrust provides tools that automate privacy operations, help companies follow data rules, and lower compliance risks. Its UCPM platform centralizes consent and preference management for businesses.
“Consent drives personalization and, therefore, value for customers, enabling long-term connection and loyalty,” said Ojas Rege, SVP and GM at OneTrust. “This shows companies can prioritize customer trust and ensure responsible data use while accelerating innovation.”
PLDT and Smart said the system will help them follow data privacy rules more efficiently and improve how they manage customer information for marketing that is allowed under consent requirements. The platform also supports analysis of customer preferences so companies can offer more relevant content and services.
The companies said customers will be able to manage privacy settings more easily and choose how their data is shared within the PLDT ecosystem.
“Our commitment to privacy by design is reinforced through UCPM. It empowers our customers by giving them control over their data while positioning us to enable responsible data monetization in the future,” said Leah Jimenez, chief data privacy officer of PLDT and Smart.
