SailPoint, AWS partner to expand identity security for AI agents

Back End News - AWS x Sailpoint

SailPoint Inc., an enterprise identity security company, signed a multi-year strategic collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to help organizations secure AI-driven systems and manage a growing number of digital identities.

The agreement builds on an existing partnership and positions SailPoint as a preferred identity governance solution for agentic AI deployments on AWS. The companies aim to address an increasing challenge in cybersecurity as AI systems create not just human users, but also machine and software-based identities that need strict oversight.

“The proliferation of AI agents is creating a new class of non-human identities, and each one represents a new attack surface,” said Mark McClain, CEO and founder of SailPoint. “For AI to be a true business accelerant, it must be built on a foundation of security. Our collaboration with AWS is about providing that foundation.”

As enterprises adopt AI agents to automate tasks, these systems increasingly act on behalf of users, applications, and services. This creates more complex environments where access control and identity tracking become harder to manage.

Through the collaboration, SailPoint and AWS plan to build a unified governance layer that allows companies to manage both human and non-human identities across AWS environments. The approach focuses on enforcing access policies, maintaining visibility, and keeping systems secure as AI workloads scale.

“Agentic AI is unlocking opportunities for growth and innovation across all industries,” said Keshav Narsipur, VP, AWS Identity and Access Management, Cloud Governance and Infrastructure as Code, AWS. “As customers build transformative new experiences, they need a trusted framework for security and governance. This collaboration brings together SailPoint’s leadership in identity with the power of AWS, enabling our customers to confidently deploy and scale their AI agents.”

SailPoint is also integrating its platform with AWS AgentCore (Bedrock AgentCore), allowing organizations to discover and manage AI agents as identities within a single system. This enables capabilities such as human-agent attribution, access reviews, and automated permission adjustments.

Future updates are expected to let customers provision accounts and manage access directly for AI agents, helping enterprises scale AI adoption while maintaining strict security controls.
