Software company Salesforce has announced the general availability of a redesigned Slackbot, viewing it as a built-in work assistant inside Slack for business users. Salesforce acquired Slack in July 2021 for $27.7 billion
The announcement was made during Dreamforce, where Salesforce shared its plan to use Slack as the main interface for Agentforce 360. The goal is to let employees and artificial intelligence (AI) agents work together using conversations, company data, and workflows already inside Slack.
Slackbot is now designed to help employees complete everyday tasks without leaving the app. It can answer questions, organize work, create basic content, schedule meetings, and trigger actions using tools already connected to Slack. Salesforce said the tool uses existing conversations, files, and channels as context, while following company access rules and permissions.
According to Salesforce, the updated Slackbot does not require installation or training. Employees can start using it by simply typing messages, similar to chatting with a coworker. The company said this approach reduces the need to switch between apps, which has been a common issue with other AI tools.
“Slackbot isn’t just another copilot or AI assistant,” said Parker Harris, co-founder, Salesforce & CTO, Slack. “It’s the front door to the Agentic Enterprise, powered by Salesforce. This brings AI that is grounded in your company’s data, workflows, and Slack conversations, right into the flow of work.
Salesforce said trust remains a major concern for companies using AI. Slackbot is designed to address this by understanding user context, including who they work with and what information they can access. The system only sees what users are allowed to see, the company said.
The new Slackbot is now available to Business+ and Enterprise+ customers. Starting Jan. 13, 2026, Salesforce will begin a gradual rollout to additional plans. Enterprise administrators will be able to manage or limit access until Feb. 10, 2026.
