Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has launched the One UI 7 beta program, offering users an early experience with enhanced security and privacy features. Designed exclusively for Samsung Galaxy devices, the update introduces tools that simplify data protection while addressing the challenges of artificial intelligence (AI).
Samsung highlighted the integration of advanced features like the Knox Matrix, an intelligent system that monitors and secures connected devices through a private blockchain called Trust Chain. A new Knox Matrix dashboard allows users to check the security status of Galaxy devices, TVs, and appliances in one glance. Devices marked “green” are secure, while at-risk devices display warnings and recommendations for improvement.
Enhanced Data Protection ensures users can retrieve data stored in Samsung Cloud with ease. By verifying the lock screen of a previous device, users can transfer private data securely to a new device. The update also introduces passkeys, enabling faster and safer logins to apps, devices, and websites via fingerprint sensors on Galaxy smartphones.
Maximum Restrictions has been upgraded to provide stronger safeguards for users who need extra protection. It offers controls to block 2G connections and prevent automatic reconnections to less secure Wi-Fi networks. These measures enhance existing features, such as blocking suspicious attachments and removing location data from shared photos.
To combat malicious apps, One UI 7’s Safe Install system works with Auto Blocker to warn users about risks from unauthorized downloads. Biometric authentication adds another layer of security, requiring user verification before changing critical settings in unfamiliar locations.
Samsung plans to roll out One UI 7 with Galaxy S series devices starting in early 2025, incorporating additional AI-driven capabilities. The beta program begins on December 5 for the Galaxy S24 series in select countries, including Germany, India, and the United States, with the Philippines scheduled for early 2025.
As the world navigates increasing AI integration, One UI 7 underscores Samsung’s commitment to privacy and security, ensuring users remain protected in an interconnected ecosystem.
