SAP, a technology company, unveiled a set of generative AI capabilities and advancements, which is aimed at empowering developers across all proficiency levels to enhance their businesses in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

SAP is introducing pro-code tools infused with AI, establishing a comprehensive platform for developing generative AI extensions and applications on SAP Business Technology Platform.

SAP is also launching SAP Build Code solutions to facilitate cooperation with business experts using the low-code SAP Build solutions introduced in 2022. Tailored for SAP applications and the SAP ecosystem, SAP Build Code solutions offer AI-powered productivity tools optimized for Java and JavaScript development. Leveraging SAP’s new generative AI copilot Joule, developers benefit from enhanced productivity through embedded code generation capabilities for data models, application logic, and test scripts.

SAP HANA Cloud

Recognizing the importance of quality data in AI, SAP HANA Cloud continues to innovate in the data space. The addition of new vector database features to its multimodel offerings, at no additional cost, enables the management of unstructured data like text, images, or audio. This enhances long-term memory and provides context to AI models, facilitating quick retrieval of similar objects. For instance, users can search for suppliers based on language in contracts to analyze payment history and trace individual orders. These vector database features strengthen the interaction between large language models and an organization’s critical data, delivering heightened data insights within a secure, private framework and minimizing inaccuracies.

Introducing AI Foundation, a comprehensive platform for developers to create AI- and generative AI-powered extensions and applications on SAP BTP, further amplifies developers’ impact and efficiency. AI Foundation includes everything developers need to initiate the development of business-ready AI tools on SAP BTP, from ready-to-use AI services and access to top large language models to vector database capabilities and AI runtime and lifecycle management.

With the increasing demand for skilled developers globally, SAP is expanding its learning opportunities. As part of a commitment to upskill two million professionals by 2025, SAP has launched new role-based certifications and free learning resources for back-end developers using the ABAP Cloud development model. These resources, covering ABAP development tools on SAP BTP and SAP S/4HANA, are available on the SAP Learning site, designed to equip developers with the skills for agile and cloud-compliant business transformation in alignment with SAP’s clean core strategy.

SAP has joined the Stanford HAI (Institute for Human-Centered AI) Corporate Affiliate Program. This collaboration will see researchers and engineers at SAP working alongside the Stanford academic community, including research faculty and students, to explore the intersection of generative AI and business.
