SMAC (a loyalty program of SM Retail – Digital Advantage Corp.) and BDO Remit (the remittance service of BDO Unibank Inc.) have partnered to allow Overseas Filipino Workers’ families to earn SMAC points when they claim remittances at SM Stores nationwide.
Families who receive cash remittances through BDO Remit can earn loyalty points at the same time they pick up their funds at SM Store branches.
Once a family claims a remittance at participating SM Stores, SMAC points are credited to their account. These points can be used for future purchases within the SM group, including shopping and basic needs.
“This partnership is truly rewarding because it celebrates our members and the families of our hardworking OFWs,” said John Patrick Cua, chief operating officer of SM Retail Digital Advantage Corporation. “Our SMAC mission is simple: it’s really to reward our members. We want every transaction and every purchase at the SM Store and our partners to feel truly rewarding. SMAC is more than just a loyalty card; it’s a connection that recognizes the hard work of every Filipino.”
“Thank you to SMAC for allowing us to collaborate with you on Cash Pickup. In the future, we will also be enhancing and improving our Cash Pickup system, as we accommodate more remitters in the future,” said Genie Gloria, SVP and remittance head of BDO.
How SMAC members can earn points:
As part of the collaboration, active SMAC members can earn points during their BDO Remit cash pickup:
- Points earned: One SMAC point for every ₱10,000 cash pickup transaction
- Where to earn: Present an active SMAC, SMAC Start, or SMAC Prestige card when claiming a BDO Remit cash pickup at the Currency Exchange counter inside any SM Store nationwide
- Expanded locations: Starting Dec. 1, 2025, the offer will also be available at Currency Exchange counters inside SM Markets and WalterMart Supermarket branches
The program allows families of OFWs to get added value from routine remittance transactions, giving them extra points that can be used for everyday shopping and essentials within the SM network.
