Smart Communications Inc. (Smart), the wireless arm of PLDT Inc., and Amihan Global Strategies, Inc. have launched AI.Smart, a workspace that uses Amazon Bedrock to give Smart and TNT subscribers access to multiple AI models through one service.
Amazon Bedrock is the technology behind the workspace’s model access. Instead of requiring users to choose and pay for separate AI services, Smart.AI draws on models including Amazon Nova, Anthropic’s Claude, Google Gemini, OpenAI, and Thinking Machines. The companies said the workspace uses the model suited to each task.
A subscriber can upload a file and ask questions about it, with citations pointing to the source material. AI.Smart can also summarize and draft documents, build spreadsheets, generate presentations and images, and analyze data. Users can work in English, Filipino, or Taglish.
AI.Smart runs in a dedicated Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment set up for Smart, with AI model requests handled through Amazon Bedrock. The companies said uploaded files stay private to each subscriber’s workspace and are never used to train AI models. They said subscriber data is encrypted while stored and transmitted, and is not retained by model providers.
“We built Amazon Bedrock so that any builder, anywhere, can access the same frontier AI models that power the world’s largest companies,” said Precious Lim, country manager, AWS Philippines. “Amihan and Avtica used Bedrock to put those models to work for Filipino students, freelancers, and small-business owners — in their language, at a local price, charged to the mobile account they already have.”
The workspace is powered by Avtica. According to the companies, its safety controls apply to Filipino as well as English, and subscriber data is handled in line with the Philippine Data Privacy Act.
Smart and TNT subscribers can buy credits inside AI.Smart and charge them to a prepaid or postpaid mobile account by confirming a one-time PIN sent by SMS. The Solo pack costs ₱49 for seven days, Flex costs ₱99 for 14 days, Pro costs ₱149 for 30 days, and Max costs ₱499 for 30 days. Credits can be spent on any mix of supported tasks. Pro and Max packs can be shared by a team or family.
Avtica said it intends to bring the approach to other markets in Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and South Asia with local mobile operators and cloud partners.
