To bolster government initiatives to improve public service delivery during undas or All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day weekend, PLDT wireless subsidiary Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) has deployed carrier-grade Wi-Fi connectivity in major cemeteries and transport hubs.
Families trooping to Metro Manila’s biggest cemeteries such as Eternal Gardens Memorial Park in Caloocan, Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City, Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City, and Manila North Cemetery may connect to Smart WiFi service in these areas available during All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day.
Travelers waiting for their trips in the country’s main transport hubs can also connect to Smart WiFi available in airports nationwide, including the four terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Davao International Airport, Caticlan Airport, Zamboanga Airport and Laoag Airport, to name a few.
Smart WiFi is also available at private bus terminals operated by Solid North, Baliwag, Partas, DLTB, and Victory; at integrated bus terminals in Bacolod, Cebu North Bus, Cebu South Bus, Imus, Dao, Tacloban, Meycauyan, and Araneta; and at seaports in Cagayan de Oro, Ozamiz, Cebu, Batangas, Puerto Princesa and Ormoc.
“We are happy to support government efforts to improve Filipinos’ travel experience by making fast and reliable connectivity more accessible to all, especially during peak travel periods,” said PLDT chief revenue officer and Smart President and CEO Alfredo S. Panlilio.
“With these facilities in place, families traveling can stay connected while on-the-go,” said Senior Vice President and PLDT-Smart Head of Enterprise Juan Victor I. Hernandez. “Whether they are waiting for their trips in airports or terminals, or are already in the cemeteries, quality connectivity is within their reach.”
The volume of passengers transiting through airports across the country increases by an average of 8% during undas, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.
