Smart Communications Inc. (Smart), a wireless subsidiary of PLDT Inc., is partnering with Google Cloud and Meta to offer more services to its subscribers.
Smart recently unveiled its collaboration with Google Cloud, becoming one of the pioneering mobile operators to implement Telecom Subscriber Insights, Google Cloud’s AI-powered solution. This advancement enables Smart’s subscribers to access and engage with pertinent offers seamlessly.
“When deployed strategically by CSPs, AI can significantly improve inclusion and equity of digital access, by tapping on data that these providers already manage and store as part of their core operations,” said Malis Selamat, country manager, Philippines and Vietnam, Google Cloud.

“We continue to work on improving the quality of customer experience, making sure that our offers are relevant and value-packed while banking on the quality of our strong network,” said Alex Caeg, head of Consumer Business-Individual at Smart.
Caeg noted the relaunch of Smart’s LTE network rollout, enabling improved services nationwide.
Smart’s mobile network, covering 97% of the population, is supported by PLDT’s fiber infrastructure, spanning over 1.1 million kilometers as of the end of September 2023.
These initiatives are poised to boost Smart’s efforts to drive mobile data usage on its network. Mobile data revenues accounted for 86% of total Individual Wireless revenues in the first nine months of 2023, witnessing a 5% growth fueled by a 15% year-on-year increase in mobile data traffic.
