Smart, the wireless unit of PLDT, has issued a warning to the public regarding a new SMS scam targeting customers. The fraudulent messages urge recipients to redeem their loyalty points for supposed “premium rewards” by clicking an attached link.
However, Smart denies any association with the mentioned site, “smart-com-ph,” and has taken action to block it from their network.
“We remind our customers to double-check the text messages that they receive,” said Alex Caeg, head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart. “As a rule, Smart does not include clickable links in SMS sent to our customers. We urge our customers to report suspicious messages to official Smart platforms.”
As part of their #CyberSmart awareness campaign, Smart offers the following tips to avoid falling victim to scams:

In the first quarter of this year, Smart blacklisted nearly 200,000 mobile numbers associated with scams. It also blocked approximately five million malicious URLs tied to phishing, spam, and hoaxes.
If you encounter suspicious messages or calls, report them via cybersecurityincidents@smart.com.ph or reach out to Smart Communications on Facebook and @SmartCares on X. Or call the hotline at 8881.
