Sophos, a cybersecurity solutions provider, sealed a collaboration with Tenable, an Exposure Management company, to introduce Sophos Managed Risk, a comprehensive vulnerability and attack surface management service.
The partnership between Sophos and Tenable hopes to address the evolving challenges posed by cyber threats, by providing organizations with enhanced visibility and proactive measures against potential attacks.
“It is critical that organizations manage these exposure risks, because unattended, they only lead to more costly and time-consuming issues and are often the root causes of significant breaches,” said Rob Harrison, senior vice president for endpoint and security operations product management at Sophos.

Sophos named leader in IDC MarketScape Report for modern endpoint security
With the expanding modern attack surface, characterized by a variety of external and internet-facing assets vulnerable to cyber threats, the significance of such collaboration becomes evident. The latest Sophos Active Adversary Report underscores the need for organizations to prioritize tasks such as closing exposed Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) access, enabling multi-factor authentication, and patching vulnerable servers to mitigate potential breaches.
Sophos Managed Detection and Response
The partnership leverages Tenable’s exposure management technology alongside Sophos’ expertise in security operations, particularly through its Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service. By combining forces, the two companies offer a dedicated team to deliver continuous risk monitoring, vulnerability prioritization, and proactive notification services.
“While the latest zero day may dominate the headlines, the biggest threat to organizations, by a large margin, is still known vulnerabilities – or vulnerabilities for which patches are readily available,” said Greg Goetz, vice president of global strategic partners and MSSP, Tenable.
Sophos Managed Risk offers several key benefits, including External Attack Surface Management (EASM), continuous monitoring, proactive notification of high-risk exposures, and vulnerability prioritization. These features aim to assist overwhelmed security teams in tackling vulnerability and exposure management effectively.
The service is available as an extended offering with Sophos MDR, catering to over 21,000 organizations globally. It provides Tenable-certified experts who collaborate closely with Sophos MDR to assess and investigate potentially exploited environments.
Sophos Managed Risk offers regular interaction, scheduled meetings with experts, insights into the threat landscape, and tailored support via the Sophos Central platform. This ensures that organizations receive comprehensive assistance in managing their security posture effectively.
