ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) Philippines has set the second quarter of 2025 for the opening of its STT Fairview 1 data center, which is touted to become largest data facility in the Philippines. It boasts a total power capacity of 124 megawatts upon full completion.
The new center aims to meet the increasing demand for data-driven services, especially those related to artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing. Designed to be a neutral carrier, STT Fairview 1 will offer a range of connection options, ensuring flexibility for clients. Energy-efficient technology will also be integrated to support the company’s commitment to sustainable practices.
“We are on schedule to deliver the initial capacity by Q2 2025,” said Carlo Malana, president and CEO of STT GDC Philippines.
Malana highlighted that this timeline meets the initial projection made last year.
The data center also aims to meet the demand for AI use, which is projected to contribute around 12% of the Philippines’ GDP, or roughly $92 billion, by 2030, as estimated by the Department of Trade and Industry. Research platform Statista forecasts the country’s AI sector will grow significantly, with a market size reaching $3.5 billion by 2030.
The company, a joint venture between Globe, Ayala Corp., and Singapore’s ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, seeks to attract major cloud service providers by combining global expertise with local insight. Alongside its expansion, STT GDC Philippines aims to prioritize sustainability, implementing technologies that reduce environmental impact while maximizing operational efficiency.
