Multinational automotive company Tesla has officially entered the Philippine market, opening its first Tesla Experience Centre at Uptown Parade, Manila, and debuting its Model Y and Model 3 electric vehicles. The new center aims to simplify car ownership with sales, delivery, and service all available in one place.
Tesla’s Model Y and Model 3 vehicles are now on display in the Uptown Mall atrium until Nov. 15, giving Filipinos a first-hand look at these models.
Tesla said its mission is to drive a zero-emission future in the Philippines.
Tesla was founded in July 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning under the name Tesla Motors, honoring inventor and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla. Elon Musk, the richest man in the world as of November 2024, became the company’s largest shareholder in February 2004, and in 2008, he was appointed CEO.
The Model Y, offering a range of 533 kilometers per charge, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and provides 2.1 cubic meters of cargo space for up to five passengers. Starting at P2,369,000, it combines spacious design and high performance. Model 3, a compact sedan priced from P2,109,000, reaches 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds and delivers a range of up to 629 kilometers on a single charge.
In early 2025, Tesla will start delivering customized Model Y and Model 3 vehicles tailored to buyers’ preferences through the Tesla Design Studio, where customers can personalize exterior, interior, and features.
Tesla’s first indoor Supercharger station, located at Uptown Mall, is set to open soon with four charging stations. Additional Superchargers will be strategically installed nationwide. Charging is offered on a pay-per-use basis at P19 per kWh, with a full charge costing about P1,140.
