UnionBank digitizes Navotas LGU tax and fees collections

Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) and the Local Government of Navotas recently signed a partnership to digitize its tax and fees collection system enabling residents pay their dues online.

Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco, UnionBank EVP and Retail Banking Center head Joyce Gonzalez, sales director Larry Peralta, account Manager Jon Fraxidio and Landbank executive vice president Julio Climaco Jr. led the virtual launch of the program.

Through this digital solution, the residents of Navotas may avoid long lines and possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus. Transacting with the government can now be as simple and convenient as transferring funds to friends and family.

Tech Up, Pilipinas

“This initiative is part of our ‘Tech Up, Pilipinas’ efforts to help the country modernize and deliver services efficiently. This digital solution is only one of the few ways for us to address payment and collection concerns especially in the middle of the pandemic when it’s safer for everyone to stay at home as much as possible,” said UnionBank chief Mass Market and Financial Inclusion executive, Chut Santiago Jr.

This partnership comes after the Bank’s projects with other LGUs for online disbursement of SAP funds and integration of an online payment system for business taxes and permits.

“We are glad to partner with UnionBank in this step to modernize our service delivery and enhance the experience of our constituents,” Mayor Toby M. Tiangco of Navotas City.
