Vitro Inc., the data center unit of PLDT Inc., has signed an agreement with tech company Nokia to develop AI-driven data center solutions that enhance security, scalability, and efficiency.
The partnership will combine Vitro’s data center infrastructure with Nokia’s advanced networking technologies. The collaboration aims to support AI workloads, including Generative AI (GenAI) training and inference. The companies will also explore technology solutions and business models that will set Vitro apart in the market.
“We are excited to collaborate with Nokia to drive AI adoption in the Philippines,” said Victor Genuino, president and CEO of ePLDT and Vitro Inc. “This partnership reinforces our commitment to delivering secure, innovative data center solutions that empower businesses in the AI era.”
As part of this initiative, Vitro is conducting several Proof-of-Concept (PoC) trials with Nokia. One of the technologies being tested is Quantum-Safe Networking (QSN), which strengthens Vitro’s Data Center Interconnect (DCI) infrastructure. By using encryption methods that can resist quantum computing threats, QSN helps ensure the security of customer data.
Vitro is also working to improve its DCI design and deployment strategies by integrating Nokia’s networking solutions. These include Data Center Fabric with Event-Driven Automation (EDA), Data Center Gateway Routers with AnySec, AI-Supported Operations (AI-Ops), and Quantum-Safe IP/Optical Transport. These technologies aim to create a more automated and secure environment for AI, cloud, and critical applications.
“Nokia is committed to supporting the digital transformation of enterprises in the Philippines, and we believe that our partnership with Vitro will play a significant role in achieving this goal,” said Xulei Sang, SVP and head of network infrastructure for Nokia APAC.
