Major data center operators in the Philippines have formed an alliance called the Data Center Operators of the Philippines (DCPH) to strengthen the country’s position in the regional digital economy.

The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed by representatives from VITRO Inc., ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (Philippines), YCO Cloud, Digital Edge Philippines, Digital Halo, and A-FLOW.

The group aims to promote cooperation among industry players, improve infrastructure, and enhance the country’s competitiveness in Southeast Asia’s growing digital market.

DCPH represents a combined 473 megawatts of IT power capacity and will serve as a collective voice for the local data center industry. The alliance plans to work with the energy sector to ensure reliable and affordable power, with telecommunications companies to improve connectivity, and with government agencies such as the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to support policies that encourage data center development and data localization.

The members also intend to help train local talent and meet the rising demand for hyperscale, artificial intelligence (AI), and other advanced technologies.

The group emphasized that keeping government and citizen data within the country is essential for national security and privacy. Similar measures are already being implemented in Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia, where data localization is seen as a way to protect national interests and support economic growth.

According to DCPH, adopting such policies in the Philippines could strengthen infrastructure, attract more cloud and AI investments, and support the country’s goal of becoming a key digital hub in the region.
