Wise is expanding its payment capabilities in the Philippines, turning its cross-border money account into a tool Filipinos and international visitors can use for everyday payments.
The fintech company is connecting directly to some local payment networks to make it easier to move Philippine pesos into, out of, and across the country.
“Managing international money is becoming an everyday reality for many Filipinos as they increasingly live and do business across borders,” said Areson Cuevas, country manager of Wise Philippines. “By integrating with domestic payment networks, we’re making the Philippine Peso more accessible, helping Wise customers move money into, out of, and across the Philippines in a much faster, cheaper and simpler way.”
Wise launched in the Philippines in 2024 and has since expanded its Wise Account and Card, Wise Business, and Wise Platform offerings. Through its partnership with GoTyme Bank, Wise Platform enables customers to send money to more than 200 countries and territories through the GoTyme Bank app.
Wise customers in the Philippines can already receive payments in major currencies such as USD, GBP, and AUD using account details. The company is now expanding access to PHP account details, allowing Filipinos living abroad and Wise users globally to receive PHP transfers without setting up a traditional local bank account or visiting a branch.
Users can share their Wise PHP account details with employers, clients, friends, and family, who can send money through InstaPay and PESONet.
Wise is also bringing its account closer to everyday digital payments through QR Ph. Customers can scan and pay for local transactions using PHP or other currencies held in their Wise Account, without needing a local bank account or e-wallet.
For freelancers receiving international payments, Wise also offers an Auto Conversion target rate, allowing them to convert earnings to PHP when their preferred exchange rate is reached and use the balance to pay or spend in the Philippines.
The company is extending the infrastructure to businesses, as well. Wise Business customers can now receive higher instant domestic payments of up to ₱500,000 through InstaPay for Business.
