Filipino travelers are making sustainability a key factor in their travel plans, ranking highest in Asia for considering eco-friendly choices, according to a survey by digital travel platform Agoda.

The survey found that 86% of Filipino respondents prioritize sustainability in their travel decisions for 2025. This figure is significantly higher than the 68% average across all Asian travelers. India (82%), Taiwan (80%), Malaysia (80%), and Vietnam (77%) follow closely behind.

“It’s inspiring to see Filipino travelers actively making choices that leave a positive impact on the destinations they visit,” said Michael Hwang, country director for the Philippines at Agoda.

Filipino travelers show a strong interest in making a positive impact. A quarter of respondents said they travel to support local economies, while 22% seek authentic tourism experiences. While 18% prefer to travel during less busy seasons to avoid overcrowding, and 19% pack reusable items like water bottles and shopping bags to minimize waste.

Agoda gathered insights from over 6,000 respondents across 11 Asian markets. The findings highlight a growing preference for responsible tourism, with many travelers opting for off-peak trips and supporting local communities.

Hwang highlighted Agoda’s Eco Deals Program, which offers discounts on select accommodations and donates one US dollar per booking to local conservation projects.

Since the launch of the 2025 edition, the program has provided discounts of up to 15% on partner hotels in 10 Asian markets. Each booking contributes to World Wildlife Fund (WWF) initiatives focused on protecting wildlife and preserving natural habitats across Asia.
