Alibaba Cloud, the cloud unit of Alibaba Group, has partnered with De La Salle University (DLSU) to improve artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing education in the Philippines.

The partnership is part of the Alibaba Cloud Academic Empowerment Program (AAEP), which aims to equip students and faculty with training, certifications, and hands-on learning in digital technologies.

“This partnership will provide our students with the tools and experiences needed to excel in these critical fields,” said Shirley Chu, assistant dean for External Affairs and Lasallian Mission at the DLSU College of Computer Studies.

AAEP works with schools and universities to offer educational resources for students, teachers, and researchers. Under the program, DLSU students will gain access to industry-based courses, practical labs, and Alibaba Cloud certifications.

“Alibaba Cloud is dedicated to bringing digital intelligence to academic institutions in the Philippines, through our academic empowerment program,” said Allen Guo, general manager for the Philippines at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.

The program began in April 2025 with a session called “AI Learning Journey,” introducing students to AI basics and Alibaba Cloud’s tools and services. Another session, set for June, will focus on hands-on cloud computing skills such as cloud deployment and infrastructure management.

Workshops are designed for students from computer science and related disciplines. Participants will also have access to free online lectures from Alibaba Cloud Academy.

Alibaba Cloud Academy, the training arm of the company, offers more than 250 courses and 270 lab exercises in 19 languages. The program has trained over 500,000 learners and partnered with over 110 schools and organizations in 23 countries and regions.
