Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence division of Alibaba Group, has been recognized as a Leader in Forrester Wave’s Q4 2024 report on public cloud platforms. The report evaluated nine major global vendors based on their current offerings, strategy, and market presence.
This is the first time Alibaba Cloud has been recognized as a Leader among other significant public cloud platform providers in this report.
The Forrester report highlighted Alibaba Cloud’s innovative artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, including its development of homegrown AI models and its Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) offerings.
“Alibaba has upped the ante on serverless beyond AI, packaging its powerful cloud-native infrastructure into more accessible offerings for both developers and operators,” said Forrester.
Revamped infrastructure
It described Alibaba Cloud as a strong option for businesses operating in Asia-Pacific, Africa, Europe, and Latin America.
Alibaba Cloud achieved the second-highest ranking among the evaluated vendors and received top marks in 17 criteria, such as database services, Internet of Things (IoT), and Kubernetes capabilities. The company operates 85 data centers in 28 regions globally, reflecting its wide international footprint.

At its annual Apsara Conference in September, Alibaba Cloud introduced a revamped infrastructure to meet growing AI demands and launched over 100 new language models, including Qwen 2.5. Its proprietary Qwen models have been downloaded over 40 million times globally.
As the creator of ModelScope, China’s largest AI model community, Alibaba Cloud hosts over 10,000 models and supports more than 8 million developers, demonstrating its commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration.
