After playing catchup in the artificial intelligence (AI) space, tech giant Apple has finally integrated its Apple Intelligence on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The company said in a blog post that when Apple users update their devices to the latest software, they will get to experience features powered by Apple Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence is a personal intelligence system that leverages Apple silicon and enables generative AI (GenAI) capabilities such as creating language and images, among other things.
“Apple Intelligence builds on years of innovation in AI and machine learning to put Apple’s generative models at the core of our devices, giving our users a personal intelligence system that is easy to use — all while protecting their privacy,” Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, said in the blog post.
Apple Intelligence promises to simplify everyday tasks. But most users may be watching out for the new Siri, Apple’s digital assistant, which is more natural and conversational than its previous version. In this update, Siri’s “appearance” is also updated with a glowing light that wraps around the edge of the screen when active on iPhone, iPad, or CarPlay.
For Mac, users can customize Siri wherever they want or wherever it may be most convenient and accessible for them.
Apple upgraded Siri’s language capabilities so that it can now detect when “users stumble over their words and maintain context from one request to the next.”
The company said these are just initial features and it will be rolling out more in the coming months.
