ASA Philippines Foundation, a non-profit microfinance group, marked its 21st anniversary this July by unveiling a new vision and brand identity to strengthen its commitment to helping Filipino families improve their lives.

Founded to provide small loans to underserved women entrepreneurs, ASA Philippines now serves more than 2.2 million active borrowers nationwide through 1,814 branches. Its microfinance programs support small businesses such as convenience stores, bakeries, eateries, handicrafts, and market vending.

“These 21 years are a testament to the incredible resilience and unwavering spirit of our Nanay (mother) partners as well as the tireless and courageous work of our staff,” said Rafael “Rapa” Lopa, president and CEO of ASA Philippines. “They are the true heroes of our story. Our role has always been to be a steadfast partner on their journey toward a better tomorrow.”

The organization’s Microbusiness Financing program offers loans ranging from ₱1,000 to ₱300,000, payable in weekly installments. It has expanded its services to include Agriculture Financing and Islamic Microfinancing in the Bangsamoro region, with guidance from its own Shari’ah Advisory Council.

Clients in good standing may also qualify for additional loans for housing, education, and sanitation. As of June 2025, ASA’s total loan portfolio stood at ₱41.2 billion. The foundation also allocates over ₱1 billion annually to health, nutrition, and education programs, supporting the families and children of its clients.

This year, ASA introduced a new themeline, “Palaguin ang Pag-asa,” which Lopa described as “a renewed promise to work hand-in-hand with every hardworking staff and enterprising Nanay to grow hope, nurture their dreams, and shape more empowered citizens.”

The anniversary celebration also featured the launch of ASA’s updated logo and branding, reflecting its continued focus on inclusive growth and community development.
