The cloud computing market in the Asia/Pacific region is expected to reach $250 billion by 2025, with a projected annual growth rate of 14.2% through 2028, according to the market intelligence firm International Data Corp.
The market’s steady rise is fueled by the adoption of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and the modernization of IT infrastructure.
“Asia/Pacific’s cloud journey has entered a new phase,” said Mario Allen Clement, associate research manager, Data and Analytics, IDC. “While the fundamental benefits of cloud computing remain important, the real story now is the convergence of cloud and AI.”
Clement noted that businesses are recognizing that the cloud is not just a platform for running applications; it’s the essential infrastructure for powering the next generation of intelligent solutions.
Growing industries
“Those who effectively harness this convergence will be the true leaders in the digital economy,” he said.
Companies are looking beyond basic cloud migration and using cloud-based AI platforms to develop and deploy applications. This shift is reshaping industries by improving efficiency and enabling innovation.
Despite the strong growth outlook, businesses face challenges related to data sovereignty, regulatory compliance, and the demand for specialized AI talent. To address these concerns, cloud providers are expanding localized infrastructure, strengthening compliance certifications, and offering training programs to bridge the skills gap.
