Amazon Web Services (AWS) has committed more than $500 million in resources to help university students worldwide, including the Philippines, learn cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) through its new Student Rewards program.

The program offers training, cloud credits, and a certification exam voucher through AWS Builder Center. Philippine participants include Matthew Vann Erich Delgado, a senior Bachelor of Science in Information Systems student at the University of Batangas and an AWS Student Builder Group Leader.

“AWS Student Rewards gives us more opportunities to strengthen our cloud skills through hands-on learning and prepare for future certification exams. Having access to these resources motivates us to keep learning, build more, and take the next step in our cloud journey,” said Delgado.

Students must be at least 18, verify their university enrollment through SheerID, and complete their Builder Center profile to receive 12 months of premium AWS Skill Builder access.

The subscription includes more than 900 courses, practical labs, certification exam preparation, and game-based learning. Students can use these resources to practice working with cloud services, which let organizations access computing tools over the internet.

Additional rewards depend on participation. Students earn badges by publishing articles, commenting, and staying active on Builder Center, unlocking up to $30 in AWS credits and a $100 AWS Certification Foundational exam voucher. AWS puts the total potential benefit at $579 per student, including the premium learning subscription valued at $449.

Builder Center also offers workshops, project sharing, public profiles, and developer communities without student verification.

On campuses, AWS Student Builder Groups, formerly AWS Cloud Clubs, help students learn together and develop projects. These student-led groups operate in more than 60 countries.

In the Philippines, they form part of broader AWS Cloud Communities with more than 30,000 members across cities including Manila, Bacolod, Baguio, Cebu, and Davao.
