Beko Philippines, in partnership with PCX Markets, reported that it reclaimed and recycled more than 39,000 kilograms of plastic waste in 2024.

The collaboration, which started in 2023, allowed the company to recover and divert the equivalent of 13 million 3-gram plastic sachets from the environment. The initiative also enabled Beko Philippines to offset 100% of its plastic footprint, exceeding the requirements of the country’s Extended Producer Responsibility law.

“At Beko, sustainability is at the core of everything we do. Our products are designed to deliver comfort and convenience to every Filipino home, while also caring for the planet,” said Alper Yildirim, country director of Beko Philippines. “We are proud of our recent collaboration with PCX Markets, turning plastic waste into valuable opportunities for the environment and the community.” We are committed to magnifying our efforts, and we hope this inspires our customers to take pride in choosing Beko as well as for other organizations to be inspired with their own sustainability initiatives.”

Projects under the partnership include Top Lun’s recycling of 33,000 kilograms of rigid high-density polyethylene plastics, commonly found in bottle caps, into flakes that were sold to companies for reuse.

Another effort involved the Holcim-Geocycle program, which worked with local government units and waste aggregators to collect post-consumer plastics. Around 4,000 kilograms of flexible plastics were diverted from landfills and used as alternative fuel in Holcim’s cement facilities.

Beko also supported the Aling Tindera waste-to-cash program, which helps women micro-entrepreneurs collect or purchase flexible plastics from their communities. The collected waste was delivered to a co-processing facility for use as alternative fuel. Participants earned about ₱7,500 in additional income, a 37% increase from the previous year’s baseline.
