BPI appeared most widely across several types of Philippine banking questions answered by artificial intelligence (AI), while BDO was named first most often across all four categories tested, according to the PRecious AI Authority Index: Southeast Asia Banking 2026.

The findings show how a bank’s presence in AI answers can differ from its position in those responses. In business banking, BPI appeared in 96% of answers, but BDO was named first in 75%. For consumer banking, BPI led reach at 73%, while BDO led first mentions at 31%.

“The Philippine result makes the distinction very clear: visibility and prominence are different jobs,” said Paolo Alba, regional VP and Philippines country lead at PRecious Communications. “Communications teams need to know not only whether the bank appears, but what is said, why it is placed there and whether the supporting story reflects the experience customers actually have.”

PRecious Communications, a multi-market integrated communications consultancy, used PRecious Pulse, the agency’s proprietary measurement and research platform, to conduct the study. BPI recorded the broadest answer reach across consumer, business, and trust queries.

For bank communications and marketing teams, the findings saw a gap in simply counting AI mentions. A bank may appear in many answers without being listed first. Checking the name alone also leaves out what the AI says about the bank and what information supports its response.

“First mention in an AI answer is not an endorsement or a measure of customer preference,” said Lars Voedisch, founder and Group CEO. “It indicates narrative order. Philippine communicators must examine what AI says about their institution, not just how often the name appears.”

The study covers Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Some markets had consistent leaders, while others had results that varied by question. The research also highlighted how AI can show different brands, supporting information, and answer orders to different audiences.

PRecious Communications said businesses should not rely on one AI platform, a single dashboard score, or a general brand search to assess their digital reputation.

The findings reflect answers tested in August 2026 and may change as AI services, search results, and publicly available information change. The study does not rank banks by quality, trust, safety, customer preference, or financial performance.
