The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is advocating for the digitalization of payments for government transactions, aiming to expedite service delivery and improve financial accessibility for citizens.

The BSP’s initiative seeks to streamline the distribution of government benefits, including social security, loans, and financial aid through programs like the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

Recent BSP data reveals that 95.9% of government financial transactions are conducted digitally. These transactions are categorized into government-to-business (G2B), government-to-person (G2P) for financial aid, and cross-agency transactions or government-to-government (G2G).

G2B transactions have reached 100%, G2P stands at 96.4%, and G2G has reached 87.9%.

To expedite the adoption of digital payments, BSP is implementing initiatives in communities, particularly in remote areas, enabling them to access basic deposit accounts. The BSP aims to promote a cash-lite environment in the Philippines to enhance financial inclusion.
