Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) has added leaders from IBM Philippines and Vivant Corp. to its board, bringing more experience in technology, workforce development, energy, water, and infrastructure.
Leo Capinpin, country general manager and technology leader of IBM Philippines, and Emil Andre Garcia, president of Vivant Corp., have joined PBSP as its newest trustees.
Their appointments give PBSP added expertise in industries that play a major role in the country’s economic and social development.
IBM Philippines is a founding member of PBSP and has worked with the organization on education and workforce development programs. The technology company provides software, consulting, and infrastructure services that help businesses address operational and technology challenges.
Capinpin has spent more than 25 years at IBM. He leads the company’s business strategy, sales, and technical functions in the Philippines. His experience covers the financial services sector and IT services, including hardware, software, and infrastructure technology solutions.
His background could support PBSP programs focused on digital skills and workforce readiness as technology changes how companies operate and what skills employers require.
Garcia, on the other hand, will represent PBSP members in the Visayas and serve as chair of the organization’s Visayas Regional Committee.
Vivant Corp., a publicly listed Cebu-based holding company, has investments in energy and water and a growing interest in infrastructure development. It has been a PBSP member since 2009 and has worked with the organization on reforestation projects in Cebu.
Garcia also serves as president of Vivant Energy Corp. He leads the company’s investments and operations across conventional and renewable energy generation, power distribution, and electricity retail in the Philippines.
His appointment adds regional and industry experience to PBSP’s board as businesses face growing pressure to support cleaner energy, stronger infrastructure, and sustainable community development.
Garcia takes the board seat previously held by Jose Antonio “Tonio” Y. Aboitiz, who represented Davao Light and Power Company Inc.
