The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will temporarily stop the operations of its Coin Deposit Machines (CoDMs) in select malls across the Greater Manila Area starting June 17, 2025. The move is part of a review to improve how coins are collected and reused across the country.
People may still use the CoDMs until June 16, 2025. After this date, the machines will be offline while the BSP works on improving its coin recirculation efforts. The BSP plans to relaunch the CoDMs following the results of its review.
Since the program began in June 2023, CoDMs have handled close to ₱1.5 billion worth of coins.
The BSP encourages those who want to exchange coins to deposit fit coins at banks where they have accounts. For individuals without bank accounts, both fit and unfit coins, including damaged ones, can be exchanged at banks and other financial institutions participating as currency exchange centers under the BSP’s Piso Caravan program.
Banks are also required to accept unfit coins as part of their role in removing damaged currency from use.
