The Clark Loop bus service has relaunched with a cashless payment system powered by beep, hoping to modernize public transport within the Clark Freeport Zone. The Clark Loop covers 25 stops, running from SM City Clark to Clark International Airport, catering to employees, visitors, and tourists.
In a partnership between Clark Development Corp. (CDC) and AF Payments Inc. (AFPI), the buses now exclusively accept beep cards or beep QR tickets, eliminating cash transactions. This shift aims to make commuting faster, safer, and more efficient.
“This pilot will help us improve before involving private sector players,” Atty. Agnes Devanadera, president of CDC, said in a media release. She also emphasized that the goal is to promote a disciplined transport system, starting with 10 buses that offer free Wi-Fi, GPS, and punctual services.
Passengers can tap in with their beep cards or scan QR tickets purchased via the beep app. Fares start at P15, depending on the number of stops, with full-route travel costing P49.50.
“The shift to cashless payment systems is also about improving the lives of commuters,” said Jonathan Moreno, president of AFPI. “We hope this initiative in Clark encourages other cities to adopt similar systems as part of a broader nationwide effort to modernize public transportation.”
The fully cashless Clark Loop demonstrates how digital payment systems can enhance public services, providing a model for other cities to adopt as part of their transportation modernization efforts.
