French software firm Dassault Systèmes developed a solution called DELMIA Quintiq Workforce Planner (Back to Office Workforce Planner) that would benefit the workforce and organizations that are slowly transitioning to the office set up after months of telecommuting.
The Back to Office Workforce Planner is a management automation solution that would give companies a step-by-step guide on how to reopen office operations while prioritizing the safety of their employees.
“We leveraged the DELMIA Quintiq portfolio by modeling the key processes of the company prioritizing the presence of some of us on site for better efficiency in our operations,” said Guillaume Vendroux, Delmia CEO, of Dassault Systèmes. “We modeled the space in our buildings to make sure we take into consideration social distancing. By integrating such constraints, given the priority of the business, we were able to define a rostering week per week of people that needed to be on site.”

According to Lauren Barthes, EVP and Chief Information and People Officer, the two challenges for companies adjusting to the restrictions brought by the current global health crisis are reopening in a safe way and convincing people that it is safe to go back to work.
Simulation
Governments have imposed lockdowns in the first quarter of this year and some countries are still facing the adverse effects of the highly contagious COVID-19. However, a study by the Asian Development Bank saw that work-from-home arrangements don’t work for 57% of businesses in the Philippines.
The Back to Office Workforce Planner uses a simulation of multiple scenarios that companies can anticipate when their employees report back to their offices. This will allow them to put in place precautionary measures to help mitigate the spread of the virus. With an unseen enemy, prevention has become a key to stop it. The solution will also help companies develop business plans needed to recover safely, efficiently, and effectively from the pandemic.
This workforce management automation solution, which is part of the DELMIA Quintiq Workforce Planner, helps businesses create a plan based on the desired office occupancy, generating and assigning office “shifts” to employees intelligently and efficiently.
The Back to Office Workforce Planner is an adapted version of the DELMIA Quintiq Workforce Scheduling, which includes a suite of tools to plan and optimize workforce in governments, public services, airports, corporations, and factories.
