Eastern Communications has activated the “Express Route” within the Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network (PDSCN), a joint venture aimed at bolstering the country’s connectivity reliability.
Operational since Feb. 9, the PDSCN Express Route spans key locations including Lucena City, Quezon; Boac, Marinduque; Calatrava, Tablas Island, Romblon; Roxas City, Capiz; Placer, Masbate; Palompon, Leyte; Lapu-Lapu, Talisay City, and Tagbilaran City, Cebu; and Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental.
The project seeks to enhance internet connectivity, particularly in regions prone to typhoons and natural disasters, providing better services to Filipinos. By minimizing terrestrial fiber network use, the Express Route aims to reduce network faults caused by cable cuts on road networks.

The PDSCN Express Route, comprising 1,000 kilometers of submarine and terrestrial fiber optic cables, strategically connects South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. This project, which commenced in July 2022, is a collaborative effort involving Globe Group and InfiniVAN Inc., covering a total cable distance of 2,500 kilometers and establishing landing cables in 32 Point of Interconnect (POI) sites.
This move holds the promise of transforming the digital landscape of the Philippines, fostering a more connected and resilient nation.
