Epson Philippines is offering scanners and printers to help hospitals and clinics digitize patient records and reduce the cost of producing medical documents.

Hospitals handle paper charts, laboratory results, and registration forms alongside electronic medical records (EMRs). Epson’s scanners let staff save these documents as digital files, while its printers produce prescriptions, medical certificates, and discharge summaries.

“Technology in healthcare should serve the people providing the care — our doctors, nurses, healthcare staff, and hospital administrators,” said Noelle Gonzalez, head of Marketing at Epson Philippines.

The Epson WorkForce DS-790WN scans up to 45 pages per minute and sends files directly to network folders or cloud databases. Nurses and front-desk staff can operate it through a 4.3-inch touchscreen without using a separate computer.

This allows staff to scan documents at registration desks or other areas where patient records are processed. The scanner also requires users to authenticate themselves to control access to the device.

For printing, the Epson EcoTank L15160 can produce up to 7,500 black pages per ink set, according to the company. It uses water-resistant DURABrite pigment inks to help keep text readable if prescriptions or medical forms get wet.

Clinics can also print their own color forms as needed, reducing the need to buy and store pre-printed supplies.

For larger hospitals, Epson offers WorkForce Enterprise and WorkForce Pro business inkjet copiers. The company says their Heat-Free Technology uses up to 85% less electricity than traditional laser copiers, which could help facilities lower printing-related power costs.

Epson cited Germany’s Diabetes Clinic Bad Mergentheim, which serves more than 20,000 patients annually, as an example of how the equipment is used in healthcare.

According to the company, the clinic’s switch from laser copiers to business inkjet models eliminated outsourced form-printing costs, resolved power surges, and made printing supplies easier for staff to manage.
