Equinix Inc., a digital infrastructure company, has completed the acquisition of three data centers in Manila from Total Information Management, a technology solutions provider in the Philippines.

The Equinix acquisition supports the growing demand for digital infrastructure in the country. In 2024, the Philippines’ digital economy reached ₱2.5 trillion ($45 billion), making up 8.5% of its Gross Domestic Product. This includes services such as e-commerce, digital content, and online transactions.

“By broadening our footprint in the Southeast Asia region, we are not only expanding our digital platform but also supporting the development of cutting-edge AI services and technology, aligning with the governments’ digital ambitions,” said Cyrus Adaggra, president, Asia-Pacific, Equinix. “This move reaffirms our commitment to empowering the Philippines with innovative, world-class infrastructure to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.”

Connectivity for local and global enterprises

The three carrier-neutral data centers, named MN1, MN2, and MN3, bring over 1,000 cabinets of capacity and land for future expansion. MN2, the newest facility, houses 500 cabinets. These sites also connect to four of Manila’s major internet exchanges and host top network service providers, offering businesses more options for connectivity.

Equinix has partnerships with technology companies like Nvidia and HPE, helping local businesses link up with more than 10,000 companies in its global network. With the Philippines aiming to advance its digital infrastructure through programs like the National Broadband Plan, the company’s presence is expected to support this transition.

Equinix’s expansion in the Philippines adds to its data center network in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. The company also plans to grow in Thailand.

With this deal, Platform Equinix now operates over 270 data centers in 75 metropolitan areas across 35 countries. In the Asia-Pacific region alone, it runs 63 data centers in 17 metros, including key cities in Australia, China, India, and Japan.
