Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., is partnering with chipmaker Nvidia to build Taiwan’s fastest AI supercomputer. This project, the Hon Hai Kaohsiung Super Computing Center, was announced at Hon Hai Tech Day and is set to transform AI (artificial intelligence) research and development in Taiwan.

The supercomputer will be based on Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture, incorporating the GB200 NVL72 platform. This system will feature 64 racks and 4,608 Tensor Core GPUs, delivering over 90 exaflops of AI performance. Expected to be fully operational by 2026, it will be Taiwan’s largest and most powerful AI computing system.

“Powered by Nvidia’s Blackwell platform, Foxconn’s new AI supercomputer is one of the most powerful in the world, representing a significant leap forward in AI computing and efficiency,” James Wu, VP and spokesperson of Foxconn, said in a statement.

Foxconn aims to use this new technology to advance fields like cancer research, large language model development, and smart city innovations. These applications will place Taiwan at the forefront of AI-driven industries.

Foxconn’s broader strategy focuses on three areas: smart manufacturing, smart cities, and electric vehicles. The supercomputer will support digital twins and AI-powered automation to make urban areas like Kaohsiung more efficient.

The first phase of the project is expected to be operational by mid-2025. It will integrate Nvidia’s Omniverse and Isaac platforms, which are designed to improve manufacturing processes through advanced AI and robotics.
