GCash broadens overseas services with improved remittance options

GCash

GCash, a finance app, now supports instant money transfers to the Philippines through more than 70 official remittance partners, including major providers like Western Union, Ria, Remitly, and MoneyGram.

With this development, Filipinos overseas can securely send funds directly to the GCash accounts of their family members back home. Also, GCash has made its app accessible to users with international or non-Philippine mobile numbers, further enhancing its global reach.

“By making GCash accessible to more Filipinos abroad, managing finances is now easier from afar. This helps push our vision of financial inclusion for all Filipinos, wherever they may be in the world,” said Ren-Ren Reyes, president and CEO of GCash mobile wallet operator G-Xchange Inc.

The expansion of GCash’s services offers benefits for both senders and recipients. Migrants and overseas Filipinos can now manage their finances more effectively, thanks to features like free real-time money transfers, which provide recipients in the Philippines with immediate access to funds. The app allows users to pay for various bills, such as utilities, taxes, and tuition, directly from their GCash accounts, ensuring that essential payments are made on time.

International services

Another convenient feature is the ability to purchase mobile load for friends and family in the Philippines, facilitating seamless communication through messages and international calls. This added functionality underscores GCash’s commitment to financial inclusion and connectivity for Filipinos worldwide.

Following the approval from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, GCash has fully launched its international services, allowing Filipinos in 16 countries, including the United States, Canada, Italy, the UK, Australia, Japan, and several others, to use their international mobile numbers for app registration and usage.

To access GCash outside the Philippines, users need to download the app from Google Play, the App Store, or Huawei AppGallery and use an active international SIM card. Registration involves selecting the country, entering the mobile number, and providing personal information. Users must also verify their identity with a valid ID, such as a Philippine passport, and complete a facial verification process. Once confirmed via SMS, users can set their MPIN and start using the app.
