Google has unveiled a new feature called “Deep Research,” integrated into its Gemini AI assistant, designed to help users save time by generating detailed reports on complex topics.

The tool, available on Gemini Advanced, uses advanced AI capabilities to streamline research processes for a wide range of users, including students, entrepreneurs, and marketers.

“Deep Research” enables users to pose a question or share a topic, after which Gemini autonomously explores multiple sources, analyzes relevant data, and compiles findings into a comprehensive report within minutes. By simplifying research tasks, the feature allows users to focus more on interpreting and applying information rather than gathering it.

For example, small business owners can use it to study competitors and evaluate potential locations, while marketers can explore AI-driven campaigns to inform their 2025 strategies.

Agentic AI

“These releases are a significant step toward our goal to build the world’s most helpful personal AI assistant,” Dave Citron, senior director for product management at Gemini App, said in a media release. “They also represent a step toward making our products more agentic; as Gemini gets better and better, it can act on your behalf to get even more done.”

Aside from “Deep Research,” Google also announced Gemini 2.0 Flash, an experimental model designed to enhance speed and accuracy in understanding user intent and delivering quick responses.

At present, “Deep Research” is available in English on desktop and mobile web platforms, with a mobile app rollout planned for early 2025. Users can activate the feature by selecting “Gemini 1.5 Pro with Deep Research” in the model dropdown and entering their query.
