Telecommunications company Globe blocked more than 484 million scam and spam messages in the first half of 2025. It also shut down 5,707 domains linked to child exploitation and other harmful content as part of its online safety initiatives.

Globe also removed 2,785 illegal gambling sites during the same period, targeting platforms that could expose people to financial fraud.

“People just want to feel safe when they go online,” said Anton Bonifacio, chief information security officer of Globe. “Our job is to make sure they can. We don’t wait for problems to escalate. We intercept threats early, work with global partners, and build smarter defenses into every part of our network.”

Globe’s StopSpam portal processed 87,624 SIM reports in the first half of the year, which led to the deactivation of 9,961 SIMs on Globe’s network and the blacklisting of 77,065 SIMs from other networks.

Its filtering system also blocked 248,552 URLs containing child sexual abuse and exploitation materials, including 8,385 URLs with non-photographic images. These measures support the enforcement of the Anti-Child Pornography Act (RA 9775) and are carried out with local authorities and international watchdogs such as the Internet Watch Foundation and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.

The latest figures build on Globe’s work in 2024, when it blocked more than 414,000 malicious URLs across its network.

Through its #MakeITSafePH campaign, Globe invests in threat detection technologies and works with government, law enforcement, and industry partners to disrupt cybercriminal activities before they can cause harm.

“Our mission is simple,” Bonifacio said. “Protect every customer. Every day, any day! No shortcuts.”
